St. Augustine Amateur Feature Player: Grayson Murray
A golf resume is an important document for up-and-coming golfers. And for first-time St. Augustine Amateur competitor Grayson Murray, his golf resume says a lot.
Murray reached the semifinals of the prestigious North & South Amateur earlier in the year and took at Top 20 at The Players Amateur. He also has a ninth-place finish at the 2012 Cardinal Amateur and placed 16th at last year’s Terra Cotta.
He even has a Nationwide Tour start on that resume.
No doubt, Murray’s resume is every bit impressive as some of the game’s top amateurs.
But he does have one bullet point that shines above the rest: he qualified for the 2013 U.S. Open at Merion.
A late birdie secured his U.S. Open berth at the the Ball Ground, Ga. sectional qualifier in June and Murray made yet another step towards elite amateur status.
Murray started last fall’s NCAA golf season at Wake Forest before transferring to East Carolina. He never played for the Pirates, instead enrolling at UNC Greensboro. According to his Twitter feed, he recently committed to Arizona State University and will play there starting in January.
Well-traveled, well-practiced. Grayson Murray is no doubt a rising star in the amateur golf ranks. And he’ll look to add to that impressive and growing resume with a win at the 2013 St. Augustine Amateur.
