2005: Vongvanij goes wire-to-wire

ST. AUGUSTINE, Florida (October 16, 2005) — Arnond “Bank” Vongvanij won the St Augustine Amateur going away Sunday with a final round 68 for a three total of 5 under par 205. The only person happier than Bank was his caddie – 14 year old Tyler Knox, a participant in the First Tee of St Johns County. The First Tee of St Johns County provided most of the caddies for the tournament, and Tyler was on the bag for Bank Vongvanij all three days.

Final rounds of 68 by both Tim Dahlberg from Clio, Michigan and Peter Uihlein of Bradenton, Florida captured 2nd and 3rd place respectively with totals of 211 and 212. Adam Scrimenti from Dania, FL rounded out the top finishers with a final round 73 for a 213 total.

The St Augustine Amateur is national event for better amateur and collegiate players.

The winner will received a replica of the St. Augustine Amateur Championship crystal trophy created by Heritage Creations of Glens Falls, NY.
